ABOUT ABOUT

Danielle Ate the Sandwich is the stage name of the indie-folk, ukulele player and songwriter, Danielle Anderson. Her music career began modestly at open mic nights in Fort Collins, Colorado, and was unexpectedly jumpstarted by the popularity of her simple YouTube videos, that show off her ukulele, sweet vocals, thoughtful lyrics and unique personality. Danielle Ate the Sandwich has been touring nationally since 2009, cultivating a loyal and dedicated fan base, affectionately referred to as ‘Fanwiches.’

Danielle Ate the Sandwich has shared the stage and collaborated with acts such as Pomplamoose, Lauren O’Connell, Leo Kottke and Mumford & Sons. She has released four independent albums, receiving praise from fans of all ages. In 2010, her album ‘Two Bedroom Apartment’ reached number 5 on iTunes’ top selling singer/songwriter charts.

Danielle currently tours the United States year round, lives in Fort Collins, CO and is working on the soundtrack for a full length documentary film about the artist, Edith Lake Wilkinson.

The Denver Post says, “Danielle Anderson is a tender singer-songwriter, a brazen humorist, a fearless young woman. Performing as Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Anderson wields a ukulele, a guitar and her own words to tell stories about people.”

Denver’s Westword describes Danielle as, “cripplingly enchanting with lyrics telling the story of a generation coming of age in an age of uncertainty.”

Lara Ruggles sang her first concert in three-part harmony and won her first poetry slam. Lara’s music is intensely soulful and unafraid to acknowledge the dark places within the range of the human emotional experience. She engages with her audiences in an unabashedly genuine way, telling raw stories and allowing her own vulnerability to be a point of connection and empowerment. In 2011 Lara released Out of an Eggshell, and EP, and in 2012 and 2014 she was a finalist in the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Contest. Lara’s debut full-length album will be released on Immersive Records this year.

Performing on the cello for close to 16 years and composing for 5 years, Sam Rae explores music as a soul-filled portal, sparking creative flow and exchange with her listeners through improvised cello layers.

Rae graduated with a degree in Cello Performance from the University of Iowa, School of Music, along with a degree in International Studies paired with Latin American Studies and Global Resources and the Environment. Her musical explorations have lead her across the country from the Midwest to the West Coast traveling through Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, and San Fransisco to as far as Valparaíso and Santiago, Chile where she studied, performed and taught music. Her passions are rooted in alternative forms of collaboration and communication as she explores music as a universal language.
